I am sure we have all read many EV drivers say that, having gone from ICE to EV they would never go back. Well, talking to a pall in the pub last night, he's doing the opposite.
He currently has a Model 3 on lease though his own company, but for various reasons never got rid of the BMW 530D that it replaced (his wife used it). As the 3 nears the end of its lease, replacement lease terms are apparently going up from circa £500/month to £900/month. No doubt falling EV residuals are partly to blame for this.
Then last month he drove down to South France, and it was apparently a no-brainer to take the diesel over the Tesla, and have no worry about whether/where he could recharge. The ease of refuelling the BMW, and the quiet, speedy waft down the autoroute convinced him to return the 3 at the end of its lease and use the BMW as his daily car again.
Specifics at play here, clearly, but not all EV drivers are hooked on the 'leccy for life.
