I think I manyhave mentioned this before but if you got to the Scottish National Library site they have historical Ordnance surve for the entire country, not just Scotland going back to 1843
You can compare various versions of the the maps either side by side or as an overlay with another map or an up to date Google map
As well as the Ordnace Survey maps they also have a lot of other maps including a Germany Army map of Scotalnd (Karte von Schottland) 1941-42 and British Army Trench maps for Belgium and France for the Frist World War
