Looks like a rather large explosion from the picture
Didcot power station explosion - No FM2R
Which bit? I can't see the cooling towers, but then I may have read something about them being taken down anyway?

The picture is deceptive. Its Didcot A - Much of it has been previously demolished, all thats happened is that a third of the remaining generator hall has collapsed.

When I say ""All" i dont want to diminish the effect on those who were on site

The coal station is decommissioned and three of its towers were demolished in 2014 (?) The incident (explosion / collapse) was in a building on that part of the site.

Why did the explosion occur. Too many long hours on minimum wage pay.

There is not enough rest period that is why mistakes are being made.
Didcot power station explosion - Zero
1/ We dont know there was an explosion 2/Clearly a mistake was made but we dont know what so 3/we dont know that poor pay or overwork was to blame.

The Fluff one is David Cameroon to be sure...O:-)

Don't know what happened. The mistake was people working in a building which was about to fall down.

Being reported that there was no explosion but a collapse.

My armchair theory is they were a bit too enthusiastic with the weakening of the structure prior to explosive demolition. If that was the plan.
Didcot power station explosion - Zero
My armchair theory is that it was a building that is not suitable (or required) for explosive demolition, so was being taken down section by section. But yes wrong part taken out at wrong time.

Now that chimney next door, that will be interesting.

These twin chimneys were knocked down recently, clever how they were toppled into each other to reduce the debris field.

The generator hall has also been explosively demolished.

Will the lights go out soon?

As long as it's only the Jocks that are affected, then it won't matter.

We will be OK we have hundreds of wind turbines, pity there is no wind today. Terrific planning by someone who will be on a fat pension somewhere hot and sunny when the lights go out.
