 Ford Focus III - 13 1.6 Engine oil dipstick shape - L'escargot
The Owner's Manual for the Mk III Focus shows that, depending on the engine, there are six different shapes for the level indicating end of the dipstick. Five of the dipsticks are a conventional flat strip, but the 1.6l EcoBoost dipstick is a Bowden cable with a waisted cylindrical piece attached at the bottom. The major diameter of the cylindrical piece is a close fit in the dipstick tube. The waisted part indicates the oil level.

What reason could there be for the different designs, and particularly why should the 1.6l EcoBoost dipstick be so radically different?
