 ULEZ Incorrect Charge. - Bromptonaut
Checking my bank account this afternoon I found and unexpected debit of £12.50 for Transport for London ULEZ/Congestion Charge.

Both cars are registered. My Fabia is OK for the ULEZ but the diesel Berlingo is not. As the caravan habit has us in the Denham area from time to time we do occasionally rightly get charged.

Looking at my account this one relates to an alleged infringement on Watford Way late afternoon on 18-12-2024. I was at my desk working at the time and Mrs B was at home doing pre-Xmas stuff. Assuming it's Watford Way Hendon I've not been near it for the best part of a decade.

The plate shown has the first three letters LOV followed by 2 and then shadow. The 'lingo's registration is actually a personal plate with that sequence. However going back through the images, of which there are several, the offender is a blue VW with the reg LOV 25X.

I have of course disputed it and await a result.

Will keep you guys posted.

Bromp, private plate on the Berlingo - please tell us it's not LOV 23R ;-D

Seriously though, this should be a "slam-dunk" in your favour, once they get a human to look at the photos - something that should have been done before the fine was sent to you.

The 'lingo is LOV 2 followed by numbers not letters.

I'll wait for their contact.

I have my private plate on retention, ready to go on the Herald. Now I find that it will have to go through an MOT test, even though exempt. Not a problem, it was passed in May 23 and not many miles since. i think it's probably just a scheme to let the DVLA know the car actually exists, rather than them pay for someone to come round and check, like they did when i took the number off the last car. My tester will sort it, he may even want to see the car. He'll certainly want to see the £40 he charges to mates !

It seems that Heralds must have a name. I thought of "Sparky " as the current reg is KLG***G. Geddit ? However, this number will not be staying.

Ted,

I suspect they're using MoT stations to fill on for what DVLA local offices once did so as to ensure the receiving vehicle is AOK.

Just about to put our LOV 2xx reg on retention as I think it's less hassle that way when we trade the 'lingo for a Superb or whatever.

Brompy, I think the MOT thing only applies when the recipient car is classed as Historic. I tried to do it on line but I got knocked back. It's taxed and insured so I can use it with the KLG reg atm Too cold now, couldn't get in both the RAV or the Micra today, all frozzed up. Couldn't get in the garage as well ! Not going anywhere but last weeks purchase of dog food is in the RAV so unless it thaws, she's on pobs at teatime !

I need to put the 'lingo's personal plate on retention while we sort out going down to one car.

It'll go back on the new motor once we sort it out.

Every time I remember to think about it Mrs B is out in the car and the V5 lives in it as it's required in France where we go quite often.
