My brother in law has just turned up at our house this morning to show off his latest toy. It's a 56 plate, 35k mile Nissan 350Z. Sort of electric blue metallic coupe. I've always liked them. He has bought it not as a main car but purely as an indulgence. His everyday transport is a Nissan Pathfinder and a Ducati Something-fastio. He let me drive it "round the block" so to speak to get a feel for it. Lovely engine note, smooth power delivery, leather seats etc. I can see exactly where he's coming from with this wee cracker of a car.
Great handling thing, I instantly fell in love with it. Not sure I'd enjoy its thirst mind but I suppose that's hardly the point. A sort of budget 911 in some ways. No sense in it but lots of fun.

All documentation is present including previous MOTs, V05 Registration, 3 keys (2 main keys and 1 valet key) and a full service history (the first service was done at a Ferrari/Porsche specialist garage, all subsequent services have been carried out by Nissan). The car truly is in lovely condition, it has been my pride and joy over the last three years, unfortunately however I am studying for a PhD at University, so I need to sell the car to pay my student fees. The car is currently fitted with Eibach Pro Spacers and Tein S-Tech springs (-17mm front/-14mm rear). The aesthetic difference from standard is subtle, however it really gives the car a fantastic stance and makes it stand out from the crowd without compromising comfort. I do still have the standard springs so these could easily be swapped if you would prefer. Cracking little car, wouldn't say no to one meself.
Strange company Nissan, i can't abide their newer cars anymore but used to like them in the days of Bluebird/Primera etc, but they can still make competent attractive (to me) vehicles when designing with a purpose, eg the 350 and the Patrol.
Purely out of interest how good or not has the Pathfinder been.

@GB, the Pathfinder has been OK, no mechanical problems, it's a 59 plate which he's had from new. Only issues have been trim related, in particular a collapsing seat. He bought it to tow his gimungeous twin axle caravan thing. I suggested to him that he must have sold a lot of pegs and heather to afford that...

I had a metallic Jade green 240Z once upon a time, long, long ago, I quite like the 350Z.
If I bought one today though, it would have to be a convertible:

I agree - if you're going to have a fun car, it needs to be a convertible. I've never felt any great hankering after a coupe. That 350Z in the advert is the same sort of age and price as the Z3 I bought for fun four years ago - and it has been fun, although the 350Z is probably more of a sports car than the grand tourer Z3.
That's a slightly odd advert for the Nissan - claiming that a convertible has an electric sunroof.

I had a 300ZX Targa (pop-up headlights era) some years ago - only 160hp from it's lovely 3.0 V6, but its contemporaries were Capri 2.8i and Monza 3.0s which were dynamically pants next to the Z.
The 350Z, being in the top tax-band keeps the prices down (probably to the tune of 2-3 grand) which is fine in my book.
Personally, I like the look of the 370Z a little more.

A 350Z was a prime contender before I bought my 330Ci. A pal of mine drives an AA van, owns a 56 plate and swears by their reliability & handling properties, more so than the newer 370Z. Recommendation enough I think.
