Google Chrome Suddenly gone very slow - Meldrew
No problems until a few days ago. In the normal run of things I would start Chrome, open a new tab and be offered a selection of recent tabs. Click on the one for car4play and wait 20 seconds for it to load; however, once on the site moving from motoring to non-motoring and moving between threads was fast.

Uninstall and reinstall hasn't helped and now I am using Firefox which is normal and fast. I like Chrome but life is too short to wait for it to do its stuff. Any thoughts please?

Only that computers do slow down over time. I perked one laptop up by adding some more memory.

Have you added any new extensions? (Could try disabling any you have to see if it improves)

Also could try a clean up (in Under The Bonnet)

Try disabling DNS pre-fetch.

I noticed for the first time this week that the message "resolving proxy" would momentarily appear in bottom left of the Chrome screen slowing everything down. Resolution is here: support.google.com/chrome/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=106010
