Power just went off for 2 seconds and now my pc wont start up.
The fan kicks in, the dvd drive flashes a couple of times as normal but wont do anything else. No beeps from POST.
Anything I can try? Im posting from phone at the moment

Do you have a green light on the motherboard? does the screen flash or the standby light go out? do the hard drives spin up?
I am thinking - power supply. Sudden power fluctuations can do for them,

Nothing on the screen, it doesn't attempt to come out of standby.
Ill open it up and have a look at mb

Sounds similar to what happened to that netbook in my earlier thread! - try plugging a usb cd drive into a usb port then turning it on!

Presumably an antisurge plug (or multisocket) helps prevent this?

Ok, thanks guys, but I'm back on it now.
Unplugged everything to get the case off, stuck the power lead back in and away it fired up (taking a while on scandisk).
Now a pop up box on the desktop claiming 'file cannot be deleted' - 'cannot read file from source disk'
I've no idea what file it relates to, but seems to be ok.

Pulling the plug reset the power supply.

I've had USB devices which prevent boot up, but that it further down the line than you got. Unplugging them and restarting fixed those problems.

They might help a bit with a very short spike (fractions of a second) but in general theyr're from the same marketing school as gold plated / oxygen free cables / connectors.
