 Touch screen laptop - BobbyG
At work, we have touch screen computerised tills. Our stock system is also computerised.

I now have a need to have a conventional laptop that can be used for booking stock in and out etc, as well as normal MS Office type things, but also to be used as a touch screen till when we take items out to fetes, workplaces etc to sell,.

Criteria is that is must run Internet Explorer (for the purposes of the software we use), and have at least 3 USB ports for receipt printer, barcode scanner and label printer. Although, realistically at the most 2 of these would be used at any one time.

Dell do something which looks like it totally fits the bill except it is only 10" which isn't practical for everyday office use.

Have tried searching the usual sites and can't see anything - most searches return tablets but these either don't run IE or don't have USB sockets.

Anyone came across anything which might be suitable?

A few companies used to do them including HP with it's TouchSmart. Fujitsu did too.

I'd not get hung up on USB ports - a mini USB hub is all you'll need. In fact keeps it all neater with everything plugged into a hub and one USB lead to the laptop.

From lenovo, ah you say just another 10 inch machine - no good for office work. Its has a VGA port, to which you could connect an external monitor. Add a full size USB keyboard and its ergonomically like a desktop machine. Only two USB ports but a hub would fix that.

Runs Windows 7, has touch screen, so fulfils all your requirements.

Only downside its that its a little underpowered, using an Atom CPU, so dont expect to run games or HD video on it.

Dell do them as a £170 option on their 15" XPS range.

Don't select from their pre-built range but use the options from the drop down menus near the top of their page and select XPS Design and Performance.
