 IE9 or Firefox? - Robin O'Reliant
Ditched Chrome as it wasn't much cop, which of the two above are better both security and speed wise?

Running Microsoft Security Essentials if that makes a difference.
 IE9 or Firefox? - Roger.
I have IE9 (32 & 64 bit), Firefox 8 and Chrome.
I rarely use IE or Chrome as there are so many useful extras you can bolt on to FF.
It's no quicker than IE and is possibly a tad slower than Chrome. if you run "no script" in FF that is a big plus for security and FF with Adblock Plus can remove the vast majority of adverts.
MSE is a decent AV: Windows 7 firewall is OK.
I am currently using a beta release of Panda cloud AV & firewall. Very light.

Not sure that I really notice much difference between browsers, all seem to be much the same. Tend to use Safari on Apple and Chrome on Windows netbook but they all seem pretty reliable and quick these days

Chrome has the equivalent of firebug in it as standard and I've been able to add all my usual addons such as site speed etc to Chrome. I was getting really hacked off with Firefox's memory leak and it kept on running ridiculously slowly.

I have to use all the browsers to test sites in - for the moment Chrome seems to be the fastest most stable browser for me but if Firefox ever get their current issues sorted, I could return it to my default browser of choice one day.

I use IE9 with few problems.
If you are using MSE then they should fit very well together BUT do you want all your eggs in one basket ?

Switched from FF to Chrome about a month ago, for no particular reason really, but don't intend switching back at the moment. (Can't use IE9 on my XP laptop.)

I was on Safari for a while, but have been using Firefox for the last few months.

Worth having a couple of browsers on the go, because if a website or link acts up on one, it might work on the other.

I use all the browsers, depending on my mood :-)

Mostly use FF but some sites still don't appear properly without IE.

The IE tab extension for FF solves the issue though.

Don't forget Waterfox instead of Firefox if you have a 64bit Windows OS:

waterfoxproj.sourceforge.net/

I was recommended Opera some years ago as a good bet for security and have stuck with it ever since - never had a problem.

Many sites still behave funny with Opera.

You don't need to choose just one. Keep all of them :-)

I find Chrome fastest but still prefer Firefox because of the customization it offers.

Keep coming back to Chrome. Stable, fast, works a treat.

Is it just me, or does IE seem to be more prone to "encountering a problem and being closed down", or just hanging for no apparent reason with every release?

Did switch from FF to Chrome on my XP laptop a few months ago and quite liked it. But it didn't seem to work well over VPN accessing my work site from home.

Also I got pages refusing to load first time which loaded ok on refresh, which I wasn't getting with FF. So I've gone back to FF - not seeing issues now.

Chrome for me after painfully slow, troublesome IE8. Fast, efficient and simple to use.
