After having lent my laptop to someone it seems to have collected a trojan on it. Avast keeps popping up every few seconds warning me of it. I've tried avg but it stills can't get rid of it. He says he downloaded the latest version of adobe on to it and it downloaded something called av security2012 on to it I think I've managed to delete it but I still think something is on it. Thanks.

I googled AV Security 2012 - it's a virus that pretends (amongst other things) that quite ok programs, aren't.

Horse and stable door, but, on the rare occasions my laptop is on loan a specific named account for the loan (without admin rights) is all that is offered.
I expect it will still come back with something nasty one day though... :-(

I got a version of that on mine, despite being on a NAT router and running avast. It's a right PITA to get rid off -you have to start in safe mode, delete the .exe file, then go through the registry and correct all the entires it has changed (version I had started itself every time you wanted to start IE or Firefox, and stopped regedit running).

Thanks for that. I think it has gone after an avg and avast scan and clean. I'm away at the moment but will have someone look at it just to make sure it's gone.
