 Canon i9100 - neiltoo
I have a Canon i9100 A3 printer, which prints photos very well.
Doesn't get used much, and last time it told me that the wrong printhead was installed (!!!)
Not true needless to say.
It meant that something was wrong with it.
Researching on Google found a way to clean the printhead, which I followed, but still get the message.
Trying to find a replacement via Google, I find that Canon stopped making this printhead last October.
I've found one at £130, - uneconomic for me.
Anyone got any suggestions for an alternative supplier?
I'd like to keep the printer, since it gives very good quality output - but I guess a newer one may be even better.

No luck then......

If you dont have a need for an A3 printer, there are many fine A4 printers, costing buttons, that will print photos better than your i9100

Neil, there won't be many on here with that printer - in fact you're probably the only one.

I must say I am surprised it thinks the wrong print head is installed. And cleaning it wouldn't make a difference - unless you meant the contacts?

Do you need an A3 printers - as Zero says there's plenty of printers that are good for photos that's going to be cheaper than a replacement printhead. And that assumes you can get a replacement.

Or save up for one of these? :-)

Yes, the main use would be as an A3 printer for architectural drawings.
I've come to the conclusion that it's dead - too expensive.
Its quality was good, but the colour balance was a little off for good photographic reproduction.
Because it was used at home, I think that drying out ink has done for it.
I have a Brother A3 printer/scanner/copier at the office, so I'm not in a hurry to replace it. I was just looking for a reasonably priced way of getting it back into use.

Thanks to all anyway.
