 Android Help - zippy
I find that I am stumped, especially being generally computer literate and partly employed in programming (a very small part).

However, I have no idea when it comes to my new Android phone.

It is a Motorola Atrix.

With iPhone and iPad one downloads apps via iTunes and the Apple app store.

How does one do the same for Android phones?

From the android market.

Mine is a Samsung and there is an app preinstalled on it called "Market" - go into that and browse away.

Depending on data allowance etc, perhaps best doing it when using wifi?

Thanks

Found it on my phone - absolutely no instructions on the phone re the apps so appreciate the pointer!

Now trying to connect to the website on the PC but not having much luck as it says no device associated with my account. Grrrr, iTunes is so much easier!

Zippy, why you connecting to a website via PC?

I know, but it is just quicker on a big 17 inch touch screen than on a 3 inch touch screen!

Bigger is better, don't ya know!

Dumb question - how/why using wi-fi not eat in to your data allowance?

when I say wi-fi I am meaning picking up from your home wireless broadband or a business one, similar to a laptop.

data allowance comes when you need to use your 3G signal on your phone

Just in case anyone is interested....

via Quidco only and for today only, you can get a Motorola Atrix dual core Android phone for £15 and a few pence per month. 300 minutes, 300 texts and 500mb downloads with unlimited web. (24 months - phone free). This phone is in the same class as a Samsung Galaxy SII.

There is also £80 cash back from Quidco which makes it around £12 per month!

Once the phone is registered properly with Android market (so use the phone to begin with... you'll need a Google email address), you can use any computer with web access to select apps for install. But you need to have the phone associated with Google (using a Google mail email address) and then login to the Android market using the same account.

Not really different to what you do with Apple and iTunes - you need a valid login registered with them too.
