Scart to phono help - RattleandSmoke
I need to setup a USB capture device so a customer can record on VHS. The problem his VHS only has a scart output. The capture card has a phono input for the video (composite) and a 3.5mm jack for the audio.

I have the cable for the video and I have a cable which has 2 x phono and 1 x 3.5mm. The problem is that I a scart to phono adaptor, I have one but it has no switch on it.

The scart socket has to be connected to the output on the VHS, but aren't none switchable adaptors only one way?

Title should be phono, I am too tired.

Just tested it, it doesn't work I am guessing because all the pins are not connected.

Yes a non switchable SCART will be one way only, unless it's got two sets of leads (i.e. 4 audio and two video phonos) attached. Is there no audio phono out on the VCR? quite a few had them.

So you either need a custom lead or a switchable SCART to phone adaptor:-

Whoops, sorry that lead only has S-video out, try this one:-

Unless the capture card has S-video in, many do.

or one from the Bay for less dosh:-

Bought one with a switch from the local bargain store, you know the type sell everything from cat food to cistern siphons. Cost £1.10 :).

It was, inflation dont you know. Its a doomed business model.

Medium term maybe it is doomed, but they get round it by reducing quantities.

Just a generic bargain store, sell lots of decent DIY stuff too, tends to be better quality than pound shops, but not great, but for a Scart it doesn't really matter.
