Anybody tried applying service pack 1 to an Atom powered netbook with Windows 7 Starter edition?
It doesn't seem to have done anything nasty to my laptop, but the netbook really doesn't need anything that slows it down. The other thing is it's working quite acceptably at the moment with the benefit of 2GB of ram, so is there any reason I should apply SP1?
Any hints from more techy folk will be appreciated.

It won't slow it turn, if anything there will be performance increases but most of all security fixes. Personally though I would not want to be running Windows on an Atom system.

I know what you mean, but it came that way and I immediately stuck the extra ram in and it's quite usable. I thought of going linux, but among other things I use it to access the office network via a rather clunky system that will only log in with IE.
Thanks for the advice. I'll give it a go!
