Mucked up the Admin / User Account - Fenlander
Just done something daft.

Decided I needed to set up an admin account on our Vista PC seperate to the main account we call Family..... and in doing so I've ended up with two accounts... but neither is an admin account.

Now when I try to get into the places this might be resolved a box pops up asking me to type in an admin password and click OK. Weirdly there is no box to type anything within this popup and the OK button stays greyed out.

Any ideas??

Thanks for the link. It didn't give the answeer as such but gave clues to a resolution. It turns out that there is a hidden admin account which appears in safe mode if you press F8 at startup.

By using that account in safe mode I was able to go into the user account area from control panel and make one of the other accounts back into an admin type.

Then on a normal reboot it was all fine.

Good;-) Couldn't stay up any longer last night, hence abrupt response!

Well, any fool should have known to press F8 at start-up. :)

Usual less than intuitive Windows solution.

like the three fingered reset ctrl/alt/delete

You have to bear in mind, that the basic PC architecture we have now, was never intended or designed for home use.
