It worked before, and something has made it stop working. Not sure what I've changed, and I don't have any restore points. Windows 7, Gigabyte mobo.
Anyone got any thoughts before I go trawling the web?

My first port of call for anything that stops working is to remove the device driver and let windows reboot and find it / reload it again.

Yeah, good point. Will need to find out what it is though - likely to be same device driver for the fixed SATA drives isn't it? (i.e. C drive!)
I'm wondering if I changed something in the BIOS - I was fiddling with AHCPI or whatever it's called a few days ago - pretty sure it's back how it was, and I can't see anything to enable/disable hot swap.

Yes but a different port.

good suggestion if you goto device manager and look at sata port drivers and delete them then restart windows it will reinstall it for you. >> Yes but a different port.
