I have an audio book as an mp3 file on an SD car that I've been trying to play in the Octavia.
The book is a single file, over 8 hours long, and I really could do with splitting it into shorter files - no flash editing, just chopping it up in to say 8 one hour sections - can anybody recommend any free'n'easy software i can download to do that ?

Audacity will meet the very requirement. It may need Lame the MP3 encoder added into it, but thats very easy to do.

Thanks Z - that looks like it should do the job - not to try and work out how...

Like this guv:-
audacity.sourceforge.net/help/faq?s=files&i=split
EDIT; personally I use Goldwave for this purpose, as it will autmomatically split and name the tracks in one go, looks like maybe Audacity wants manual intervention for each split file.
