 Sky fibre - maltrap
I’m with Sky broadband,I am about to switch to full fibre.Will I still be able to use my existing Sky Q router and my landline? Thanks in anticipation

Will the full fibre still be with Sky?

When we moved to full fibre in 2024 we got a router from the provider, PlusNet, as part of the deal. The techs doing the installation set it up for us. It needed to be close to where the fibre entered our property whereas the previous Belkin we'd bought for fibre to cabinet was on an extension upstairs.

Moving from PlusNet to Gigaclear - much more competitive on price - we got their router to replace the PlusNet one. It's a Linksys and came as one of a pair as apparently one can 'mesh' them to improve wi-fi.

Landlines are tricky. Not all companies will support them over fttp. Where they do it's expensive.

By the time we got FTTC the only person other than scammers/cold callers was our daughter who'd had a habit since Uni of calling us when at a loose end.

Got rid and never regretted it.

I had FTTP installed replacing the aluminium telephone wire connections. The house phone worked but the BB was 2.5 - 3Mbps/

FTTP 150Mb - almost faultless since installation.

Fell out with SKY as they increased the rental to £35 / month when offering new customers for £24.
I spoke to several people and the best they could do was £33.

Comparison site - Vodafone £22 with a £130 voucher. Installed quite easily and has been 100% since May

SKY rang, emailed daily for a week when they saw I was leaving. Offered to match the price but I said that I gave them a chance and they refused.

Both SKY & Vodafone do house phone attached to the router

Sky currently were offering £18.99 / mth for 150Mbps recently for new customers
