Hi all. Long time no 'see'. We engaged a Solicitor to sort out an LPA for us who ruggered the initial paperwork up spectacularly, as in incorrect birth dates, my Wife had 3 different names of 3 separate pages etc., so we sacked them I then spoke to a friend who said just do it yourself. I've been on the Gov page and seen the paperwork downloaded it but I can't make it make sense. Some files seem to be very long. This is not my area and I'm a little lost and would be grateful for any guidance.

Did you download the pdf version which comes as a zipped package of forms and guidance?

I did.

There's a primer here:

www.citizensadvice.org.uk/family/looking-after-people/managing-affairs-for-someone-else/

and HMG's walkthrough here:

www.gov.uk/power-of-attorney

LP1F is the form - assuming its property and affairs you're looking at.

The rest of the stuff in the pack is guidance, stuff about fees and forms to notify people of your intention to make the LPA.

If you're befuddled then I'd hope the staff on the helpline could explain.

Otherwise can you local Citizens Advice offer an appointment?

EDIT: Mods may want to move this to Non Motoring for a wider audience.

Thank you so much. That's a great start. I'll give it a go.

Hi Bromp. Thank you again for the POA heads up on the 1st of September. I started the process and had to leave it and I'm sure that I read that it would be stored on the Gov site until I returned. Do you know if this is normal or not, cos I sure as hell can't find it. Any thoughts please......

Best,

MD

So far as I can see one can either download the forms as PDF OR do the application on line.

Context of this thread suggests they were downloaded in which case I'm not sure how they're saved.

The online version is reminiscent of a UNiversal Credit application in that you start by setting up an account. Like UC that seems to save your answers but not sure how long for.

Thank you once again.

I've recently needed to sort out POA.

I ended up paying someone to do most of it for me, because one mistake and you'll get everything sent back to you and then be put back on the waiting list again following amending your documents.

Cost me £350, plus the 2 lots of £80 for the health and finance POAs.
£350 seems to be the price most "professionals" charge here.

The person I paid is doing this sort of thing on a regular basis, and he obviously got everything correct first time. It also meant that I could spend time doing other stuff.
