Does any clever person on here know if there's a way of getting in touch with a Virgin help person who can speak good English. Having hearing aids, I find the Asian accent impossible to understand on the phone and the speech is always too fast for me.
Logging on to my Virgin mail this morning, I got a box asking me to put in my email address. Doing so and clicking on next gave me a message to ring Virgin help on 150 which I did.
I have just got an Asian lady whom I could only get 50% of what she was asking me. I had to end the call. I bet the Vietnamese don't have helplines based in Pontypridd ! It's all so wrong . I despair. Can't get into emails now !

Virgin had systems down all over the UK - their TV was working but their BB was down for many areas.
Try again later on

Thanks Bairn. Didn't know that. Our TV was ok but my 'NOW' TV kept telling me to try later !. Try tomorrow, hope for best !

Plusnet call centres are in Leeds and Sheffield. Should probably be intelligible to you Ted.
The last person I spoke to there sounded like Sean Bean, or possibly Brian Glover

T'only problem is Plusnet won't give you a phone service.

Thanks girls. No luck yet. Brian Glover would be ideal, or even Leon Arris !
Messaged all my FB fiends by my GMail to use that address. Only a few msg me anyway. Changed address with the bank, leccie and non-bank credit cards easily. Although I've nothing owing on them.
Could only contact British Gas by ringing the Homecare number and he kindly did the change for me.
And thereby is another problem which has taken days to sort out.A couple of weeks ago I got a txt from BG to say my gas payment was overdue. It wasn't, it's always paid online in full on the day they specify...always has been ! The following day, a cheque arrived for the exact same amount saying ' This is a refund of your final payment ' why ? I could only get in touch by using my homecare number and being transferred, India again, No use to me The warning texts kept coming, the last one had a phone number and a link to my account. Neither worked. I was into my account anyway and found I'd been fined for 'late payment' Spent days trying to find their chatline going round in circles and yesterday actually came up on screen.
I logged in and got a reply. It seems they had changed my account number with a longer one, when? I don't know ! How did they change it on my bank page, I didn't. It must have been recently or the previous payment would have bounced back. The cheque was a refund of my July 1st one. I needed to pay again and cash the cheque which I now have done. Why didn't they jusy transfer the online payment to the new account number. The late fee was cancelled too. What a time consuming rigmarole ! They must also assume that I'm a clairvoyant ! Now to search for a Virgin chatline for help. I won't hold my breath !

No need now, I found a VM Community page, clicked on email questions and there were others who had lost the service. There were also others who knew why, including a poster who said he was a Virgin engineer.
I think the gist of it is that Virgin have been deleting many users of Virgin Mail with older accounts, like mine with an ntlworld.com address. Some, like me are upset at the lack of any warning, meaning loss of addresses, etc and not being given time to save any mail or drafts, etc. With regard to NOWonTV, part of Virgin Media, that is a separate issue which they cannot sort out. I only use it for Sky football so I will try and cancel the subscription as I feel it will be all Liverpool now instead of my beloved Man City. I can get euro matches on TNT anyway.

I understood they were allowing ntlworld addresses to remain for as long as you had a continued contract.
Wouldn't be the end of the world if I lost mine but it is my backup mail address on some sites. I just don't know which ones!!
|
I didn’t know they were ditching the ntlworld.com addresses either. Had mine for about 30 years, I think, does that seem possible?
Mine I never used for anything, except as the address to login to My Virgin Media itself for account management occasionally.
So if they delete it then it could be interesting.

This is Virgins statement about it. www.virginmedia.com/help/broadband/email-account-closure
I was with Telecential cable in the early to mid 90s and the WSJ says it bought by NTL in 1998. So yes, quite close to 30 years!

Interesting, I have Virgin Phone/BB/TV, so why has mine been binned ? I hadn't seen the notice from VM. Maybe it's in unobtainable spam !
I actually made contact with VM this afternoon on an on-line chatline. After going through all the bot stuff, I was put through to an operator. I really only wanted to register my new email with them as I get my monthly bill on-line.
We were doing great until the memorable word came up. No idea, must be 20 yrs ago, long forgotten. He couldn't go any further but he had taken my name and address so said he could get round it by sending me a letter by snailmail with all my security details. Looking forward to that.
Also said he'd send a paper copy of this month's bill which is now a few days overdue. I had anticipated that by paying a few pounds over the regular amount last week.
Lost all me email contacts, though. Most use FB messenger anyway.
