My partner of 20+ years died late last year. She wanted a direct cremation without a service (not been there, but done it) plus a party to celebrate her life. The party will have to be done as a Zoom meeting, because she had friends in Scotland and in the States. I haven't chosen a venue yet, but there will be 12 people there in person and 4 or 5 online. I can't get my head round the equipment I will need to make it work. Obviously everyone can't be around the host laptop. Can anyone give me some guidance, please?

In asking the question, I’ve assumed that it's not viable to have several laptops in the same room all connected to the same router. I thought it would lead to picture breakup on each screen. Perhaps that is not the case?

Can a large screen on a wall be connected to the hosting PC?
We don't use Zoom at work but rather the Google equivalent but it's perfectly happy with seven attendees at our weekly meeting.
Obvious potential issue is going to be video quality.

Sorry to hear about your partner JB. Thoughts are with you.
Re the set up.... I have not tried this but it might work...
If your laptop / computer has a HDMI connector plug it in to the TV. The TV can then act as a large monitor.
Buy a quality webcam with microphone and attach it to the top of the TV and connect it to the computer.

That's the kind of scenario I was wondering about, Brompt. If several laptops can be used, however, then my question is unnecessary. I'd be better asking my preferred venue.
I'd still welcome any general observations on what I want to do though.

I'm probably missing something but why would you need more than one PC/laptop?

For much the same reason as my reply to Zippy - the onscreen size of the currently speaking participant. I've only been in a Zoom meeting online at a remote location. Each speaker was shown fullscreen

Your suggestion is similar, Zippy, but I envisaged participants at the venue having to go to the host laptop to contribute, otherwise the remote participants would not be able to see them fullscreen.
I have a separate query about HDMI connections which I'll deal with later.

A camera above a large screen as suggested above, provided the angle is wide enough, should allow adequate visibility for those attending remotely.
I think you probably need to make a list of questions for venue(s) covering practicalities we're discussing here and others as they spring to mind.

Yes, that's becoming apparent!
