I've just received an Email from the Outlook security team (allegedly) sayiing my hotmail account is about to expire, and to renew, click here. Is this yet another scam ?

I'd expect so. Basic hotmail is free, only the enhanced versions with more storage etc are charged.

Yes, 100% a scam.

If you wish to reassure yourself then check the full details of the email address it came from.

But it is def. a scam.

As long as you went to your Hotmail account independently of that email then there is no problem.

If you have a doubt, do it again.

Also, flag that email as "phishing".
