 Email magic pixels - smokie
I meant to post this when I read it then forgot. It's about "magic pixels" in emails, which cause info about you to be passed back to someone without you knowing.

Seems there isn't a lot that ordinary users can do about it, without seriously hampering their email experience. And I read elsewhere that they exist in web pages too.

Don't have email set to download and open pictures automatically. And when you read teh email only download pictures if you need them.

It's just a tiny picture which needs to be downloaded and opened each time you open the email. It is simple to code the details into the file name.

However, if your email account doesn't open pictures automatically then it will do nothing.
