My Panasonic DMP-BD75 Blu-ray player was fine three days ago but now won't open up, either via remote or using the Open/Close button on the set. The mains fuse is OK. Switching mains sockets does not help. When switched on, the set warms up and there is a hum. The set on/off switch was not equipped with a pilot light but switching on/off makes no difference.
Can none suggest a simple remedy please? The manual does not help. The player is 6 years old and cost about £90. It probably doesn't warrant the cost of professional repair.

If it were mine, I'd disconnect it from the mains and remove the top of the case, plug it back in and see what was happening. Be aware you'll be exposing live mains wiring if you decide to do this.

Thanks for the lead, Zero. I criticised the print manual but it did in fact include the first suggestion, involving the remote, which I had tried unsuccessfully, but not the paperclip hint.
Arthritic fingers mean I will have to find someone else to try this for me.
