I've recently upgraded my browser from IE9 to Firefox. (Windows Vista home premium)
Since then the sound has stopped working, can anyone give me an idea on how to fix it.
Thanks

You didn't upgrade, you may have changed.
So first, do you still have IE9? If you do, does sound still work?
If you play music or watch a video (NOT using a browser) does it work?
Do warning beeps, startup noises and the like still make sound?

I trust you've been through this:

It's where I'd start if I wasn't deaf!

I've switched back to IE9, still no sound.
No sound whatever way i play video clips/music.
No sound on start up, Windows jingles etc.
Thanks for your help.

Have you tried turning the system volume up? Sounds like the switch of browser was not the cause of this.

Yes, power light is on, volume turned uo.
Also, clicked on speaker icon in bottom right corner & made sure volume was turned up.

...maybe as per this recent thread.
www.car4play.com/forum/post/index.htm?f=6&t=21559
(Left Click the speaker icon (taskbar)if you have it, and check output is not set low/muted. If this is OK, then right click the same icon, and have a furtle around to check that inputs haven't been set too low/muted.
(If you haven't got the speaker icon, access "sound" by the control panel)

I assume that your speakers have not come unplugged (power and/or USB and/or audio lead) and don't have a seperate volume control?

Finally got sound back on (don't really know how) Pulled the speaker jack plug out & plugged in headphones, sound worked, swapped back to speaker jackplug & they worked. It's a mystery to me.
Thanks for all your helpful suggestions.

Removing and re-inserting probably cleaned the contact with the socket.

Alternatively, not properly inserted in the first place...:-)
