 Huawei E53308s Wi-Fi homepage - Chris S
I have a Huawei E53308s Wi-Fi. When it starts up it opens the '192.168.1.1/html/home.html' homepage in Internet Explorer.
Does anybody know how I change this to Google Chrome? I have already set this as the default for htm and html files.

The thing you speak of is a wireless router isn't it?

So it's whatever you are using to access the internet which needs the setting changed, I believe.

What would that be?

If you have set "Chrome" as the default browser, go into browser settings and change the default homepage to whatever you want (i use the Google search page) then save, when you re-open Chrome it should open at your chosen page. hth!

Actually I'm a bit confused what you are trying to do. I suspect you want Chrome instead of Internet Explorer, is that right? If so what device are we talking about?

Have you set up a shortcut to this router web page on your desktop?

No the Wi-Fi automatically opens it's home page when it comes on line.

Thanks - I've got it sorted now. I still had my default browser set to Internet Explorer.

Which no doubt had '192.168.1.1/html/home.html' as its homepage.

No, it doesn't have one. The Wi-Fi installation left it blank.

Your WiFi installation left your browser home page blank? S'a bit weird.

I would guess Chris S used the software that came with the router, which probably dumped some executables on his machine to bring up a web browser when the router is first seen online.

BT does lots of horrible things if you let its software install loose.

I guess.

I prefer my routers et al to be very humble and shy about their efforts. "Come on line, do your job and be quiet"

There's quiet enough conversational contributions around here without the technology joining in.
