 Ferrite Core - Robin O'Reliant

Well, I attached it as instructed but what the hell is it and why?

Adding one tends to be a last desperate throw of the dice to get an item of electronic equipment through conducted emissions tests (part of EMC testing to achieve CE/FCC compliance). Indeed I've had to use one for that very purpose in the last week!

Yes, the wiki article is right, if a trifle long-winded for most folk. They work well, and are easy to fit so go for it.

Magnetic core memories - I really wish I'd grabbed one from a skip at university in about 1980. Would have been good for the SP museum of technology.
