Help with RAM please. - No FM2R
I have an old computer.

Dell Optiplex GX520
Service Tag 7G58Y1J

I want to put more memory in it.

I think that this says I can use DDR2 800Mhz

en.community.dell.com/support-forums/desktop/f/3514/t/19413171

Which means I could buy 2x this and it would work...

Am I right?

Thank you for that.

However, given that I have to move within the realms of what I can actually get, would the module I linked to above work ? Best guess is fine.

if you look at the specs of the link I gave you, and the specs of the one you linked to, you will see they appear to be the same..

I was trying to confirm you were right, and the price you had was reasonable. I accept it was done in a pretty lazy manner, but i assumed you didn't need anyone to hold your willy!

Good, but I wasn't sure which specs I should care about. However, as you say, those two seem the same so I'll give it a go.

I assumed that was extra!

Usually just two, the type, and the number of pins. DDR2 & 240. Speed does not have to be 100% match, the motherboard will clock it appropriately

Good to know, thanks.

I've used Cex's second hand memory in the recent past, clearly it's a bit riskier but it's a cheap punt.

2 x 1GB sticks cost me 6.50 GBP inc. P&P recently

equivalent is 4 bucks from the US site
