Just before I throw it away and buy another, I though I'd just quickly check for ideas here.
I got everything working and it has been trouble free, including remote access.
About a month ago it stopped recording. On checking it seemed the disk was dead. I tried the disk in my computer and it wasn't reading it. It seemed to have lost its data, partition and everything else. I create a new volume, formatted it and it all started working again.
And yesterday it stopped again. The disk had again forgotten what it was.
This time, however, neither the existing disk nor a brand new disk I happened to have about will work in it, although both work in a PC.
The disk gets warm suggesting its getting power all the time. It makes a quiet and occasional buzz, like its looking to find something on the disk - but it doesn't. And the DVD insists it has no disk.
I've changed the data cable, but I don't have a spare power cable to check, but that's not likely is it?
Any quick ideas, or do I go with plan A which is drop it in a bin and buy another?
