 PC desktop temperature / weather gauge - Ambo
The temperature gauge found under Desktop Gadgets on my PC has ceased working. Can anyone please recommend a free alternative, or maybe a comprehensive free temperature/wind direction and speed/humidity/pressure etc. version? Like the original gadget, it should be readily accessible via a desktop icon.

Try Yowindow, you can customise it for your area, and other places, I find it ok, does most of the things you ask.

Wasn't there advice here a bit back that gadgets are not especially safe to run? Unless it's crucial I wouldn't bother.

not really! - runs in the background, accessible via taskbar icon for quickview or you can open full app via desktop icon. i hardly know it's there!

Not sure if the following will work or not? It solved the problem with my weather gadget not working on Windows 7.

Go to "C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live\Services\Cache", open "Config.xml" (Right Mouse Click -> Edit) and save it (File -> Save) without doing any changes. After 10-20 seconds restart the gadget!
