Just having a quick browse before SWMBO told me what she next wanted to be done.
A box appeared on the screen saying Java was out of date - pressed a few buttons only to find AVG pop up and say there was a risk of the download - it fixed the download. I deleted a file and thought all was well only to find they had diverted my logon to some proxy server from goodness knows where. Changed Chrome back by unticking proxy server.
Running AVG as we speak - is there anything I should be doing? or am I back to where I was?
Normally I would clock matters very early on... it was either inattention or first signs of dementia!

Maybe an obvious question but did you de-select the option that Oracle kindly provides as a default with Java updates which installs the carpy add-ons?

Further to my inattention!
Did a speed check - normally I see a map and the AOL / talktalk centre in the Manchester area.
Did the speed check and it links to Wi-Max Isle of man & not Talktalk.
Should I look at router settings and change what to what and get back to AOL/TalkTalk?

Try a System Restore first to just before you updated Java.
