At work I use a Dell Laptop and enhanced display, actual 'work' on one screen and email/browse on the other
If I 'show the desktop' on the laptop, it clears the secondary screen as well - is there any way of stopping it doing that ? I'm sure I'd seen something that made me think it possible, b ut I can't find it now

Unfortunately not - Win+D and win+M both shut all open windows on both monitors....

That's odd - Win+m works for me (extended desktop, main=laptop).
Presumably you don't have the option shown in the link that you can tick either? Couldn't spot one in my Graphics Properties.

No, I think the screenshot in the link is from 'actual multiple monitors, which is a 3rd party download
