You've upgraded it...:-) It was the Amstrad PCW 8512..
I have "fond" memories of the 8256 and the need to scroll through databases for what seemed an eternity to find something out. It cost £399 complete with printer, incredibly cheap at the time.
Re the non-playing of DVDs - it just might be that installing the K-Lite audio and codecs Full Pack may provide a solution as well as re-installing Cyberlink DVD.
Also, in WMP>Tools>File Types ensure that all file types, DVD etc are Enabled.
