.NET Framework, can I delete old versions? - Tooslow
While paddling around Control Panel, Add/Remove programs I noticed that I have .NET Framework 1.1, 2.0, 3.0 and 3.5. Can I get rid of all but the latest without any harm?
Thanks, JH

No.

Too dogmatic and not necessarily true. See:

well you tell him to delete them then, and you can deal with the messy outcome.

Thanks both. I like simple answers :-)

The remove is simple enough, just a standard uninstall. But I have come across circumstances in an earlier life where different applications wanted different versions of Java and got in a right knot if it a later one was present instead, so I'll take the advice and leave well alone.

Thanks, JH

I know it might sound strange but, if you do have to reinstall .NET Framework, do it in reverse order i.e. 3.5 before earlier versions and then in sequence.

Those using ATi graphics cards will normally need at least version 2.0.
