Has your association or club been hacked? I belong to one in Paris and its secretary is a former colleague. I received from it an odd plea. Using the familiar form of address "tu" it said the sender hoped I was well but said he needed my help and depended on me utterly. For personal reasons he was obliged to leave the country urgently and the matter was "really delicate". There was no mention of money.

I ignored it and two days later the association sent another email saying their mailing lists had been pirated, to ignore the message and hoping I would have a good holiday.

This is one I received yesterday from a member of group I belong to.


To undisclosed recipients:;

I Hope you get this on time, My Family and I made an unannounced trip to Manila(Philippines) for a short vacation unfortunately we were mugged at the park of the hotel where we stayed,all cash,credit cards and cell were stolen off us but luckily for us we still have our passports with us.

I have been to the embassy and the Police here but they're not helping issues at all and our flight leaves pretty soon, But we're having problems settling the hotel bills of (2,500 Pounds) and the hotel manager won't let us leave until we settle the bills your contribution will go along way here. Please be so kind to reply back so i can tell you what to do and how to get some cash to us... Please let me know if you can help and i need you to keep checking your email because it's the only way i can reach you..
