...running windows 7. My man has just cleaned this up via LogMe in and all is fine....except the cap locks indicator that shows for a few seconds no longer plays ball. Any ideas please.

Did it show the state of caps lock as an on screen overlay? I am guessing that's what you refer to and not a physical light. Does the volume indicator appear on screen too? Or is this indicator in the system tray on the lower right of the screen?
I assume there's some Acer software on there that is now either missing or needs this indicator function turning on. Anything Acer related in control panel?
I have found something about the Bluetooth tray application (BTTray.exe) being linked to the indicator for caps lock. And this needs to be run at startup and maybe this has been removed and shouldn't have been?
Maybe something needs reinstalling?

yup, hes "cleaned up" the caps on app.

On screen overlay yes.

My Friend did clean up the stuff that was happening during start up and I guess my doofer went west then.

When I had a quick look at the Acer support site, nothing jumped out at me in terms of drivers that would be related to this. But I also found reference to the BT tray app but that wouldn't be an on screen indicator as such.
I'll take another look.

RT. It still shows when waking the machine up from sleep when a password is required, but not at any other time.

That's a windows feature, not an Acer add on software feature ( that has now been cleaned off - actually its more likely to still be there, but is not loading at startup because the startup has been cleaned)

And the answer is...............

have a word with "your man" ?

I will old boy. Thanks for your input.

Well I would be diving into MS diags to see if he had just disabled it starting from the registry and restart it there, or into the Acer executables sub directory to see if it can be reinstalled from there, or go to the Acer support download site and download the application suite,
or live without it.

I'll do the former thank you. I WILL prevail and then you can take your smugness elsewhere Zeddo my lad. Toodle Pip.

That's diagnostic. Must be a setting somewhere in the registry which is present for the Default user configuration but missing from HKCU after user login and retrieval of the user specific settings.
Have a look in the keyboard settings. I wouldn't be at all surprised if "show capslock on screen" or similar is there somewhere and unchecked.
