I used to have the display configured to switch off after twenty minutes idle. Since the last windows update (I think), it doesn't obey the command.
I've been in Hardware and sound > power options > edit plan settings and changed the 'turn off the display' in twenty minutes again. I've done a reboot, but it still won't turn itself off.
Any suggestions please?
Windows 7 ultimate, service pack 1, 64 bit.

I have just had a look at my "Power options" and for some unknown reason my screen brilliance was reduced, I did a "restore defaults" and I can see you lot much better now. :-)

whilst it isn't really a fix, I'd do a system restore from just before the Windows update nd see if that stops it happening.

It seems to have cured itself I thought. SWMBO said there was an update the other day which she dealt with. Perhaps the fix was in that.
