My wife has over 90 names on her Christmas list and has asked me to print address labels for them. The (cumbersome) system I had on earlier computers does not work properly in Windows 7. I would like to use Avery labesl and it has a Wizard for the job but it doesn't work with my system. What might be suitable for this task please?

I'm on Windows 7 and IE9 and the Avery Wizard works perfectly with mine draiber.
Have you tried the Avery website to see what's wrong?

MS word has templates for Avery labels, you just input the Avery code number, and some of the Avery codes work in the Libre Office/ Open Office variants.
|
I will try these templates. I have updated my Avery software and it works very well, except it will only allow 5 lines of address and squashes 2 of my 6 together. I need 6 and I suppose a larger size label would work but, with a large stock of expensive Avery J8160 labels, I would like to use these.
Word help provides yet another method. I should have looked here first but it seems very complicated indeed. It is under "Create and print mailing labels for an address list in Excel", which is what I have.

I;ve never done it, but this would seem useful...

Can't you use a slightly smaller size font?

"I need 6 "
All UK addresses should need no more than 5 lines

Really???
How about something like this?
Mr J Smith
The Red House
Padstow Road
Fishermead
Milton Keynes
Buckinghamshire
MK0 0AA
I suppose it could be reduced to:
Mr J Smith
The Red House,Padstow Road
Fishermead,Milton Keynes
Buckinghamshire
MK0 0AA
But loses readability.
Anyway, where did the OP say they addresses were UK addresses?

It can be reduced to:
Mr J Smith
The Red House,
Padstow Road
Milton Keynes
MK0 0AA

Most foreign addresses can be reduced thus too.
Guides are on the net.

The address only needs to show
Mr J Smith.
The Red House. Padstow Road,
Fishermead
MILTON KEYNES
MK0 OAA
It is not necessary to show the county, only the Postal town (should be in capitals).
Anyway, where did the OP say they addresses were UK addresses?
He didn't but I did.

p.s.
To show the correct format for any address in the UK simply enter the postcode in the PO address finder.

Reducing font size, increasing label size and experimentally omitting the 6th line make no difference. I still get some lines squashed together and some of the overseas addresses, especially in Thailand, are long and really need 6 lines, even if details are amalgmateed as suggested. The You Tube video doesn't seem to cover the case. The Avery wesbsite doesn't have a relevant section apart from a generalised email address, which I will try tomorrow.
The Avery wizard will work if I compile a completely new list within it but there are too many addresses to contemplate this unless all else fails. In the meatime, a combination of current MS hints, luck, intuition and bits recalled from my last computer have allowed me to cobble together a solution that works as I want, albeit involving 17 steps.

Can't think what f word that is! I used a common word for the lettering size.
|
Well it`s a 9 letterer! - whereas Fontsize only has 8! ;-)

its an HTML command that could be used to make your post visually flashy. Therefore the ancient order of bergermeisters on here have banned it.
