Had the Mac two years now and never bothered.
But I'm sure the 'Macs don't get viruses' line is rubbish, so I've downloaded and installed this:
www.iantivirus.com/
It's made by Norton and available from the Apple app store, which I hope means it's half reasonable.
It found one suspect file on my MacBook and deleted it.
I'm told Sophos do a free anti-virus program for Mac, but I know even less about that than this one.
Any Mac virus contributions welcome.

I've always used (paid for) NOD 32 from Eset on our PCs, then extended it when we acquired an i-Mac in April.
My sons both have Macbook Pros upon which they are dependent for doing their work - yet they refuse to bother with anti-virus software. I hope they don't learn the hard way!

I use ClamXav - free. Have a look on the Apple Usage forums, perhaps, about Norton. I recall it was reputed to be trouble.
