If I left mouse click the back button I now get a drop down menu of recent web pages the same as if I'd done a right mouse click.

I'm sure this never used to happen, a left mouse click on the back button would be a quick and easy way to just go back a page. A right mouse click would be a recent history of that tab.

Have I changed something?

Is it anything to do with the length of time you are holding down the back button before releasing it? a quick click goes back one page, if I hold it down then I see my past page history.
