In the past my accounts mostly manual and I didn't store any personal details. I have recently bought some software which automates everything and allows me to store exact details of each PC which goes into the work shop.

Personal data stored is limited to phone numbers and the customers address, do you think I need to register with the DPA?

According to that I don't need to register :)

These exemptions apply in my case:-

Staff Administration
Advertising, Marketing and Public Relations
Accounts and Records

It really is just for admin and accounts in my purpose. It seems you need to register if you're storing data about health, education, financial details and that sort of thing.
