Flower arranging feedback - henry k
I have tried umpteen umpteen refresh page entries from the new locked thread and every one got the unwanted result,
I thought they might cycle out but that did not happen.
Perhaps a few more umteens will kill em?

Edit a couple of hits but now nearly all motoring items.

The pen is (careful to use that spacebar) mightier than the sword.

Flower arranging rules.

Flower arranging, say it often.

 Flower arranging feedback - rtj70
Well there goes that theory. I've even deleted all history/cookies (not that I clicked on the ads but AdChoices uses cookies)... still seen 'em so far.

I know Stephen says there is no control but other sites with Google ads don't all do this. The only two sites I know that does is here and HJ.

Edit: But maybe over time there is a difference.... starting to see other ads. Will leave ads turned on for a bit.

Edit2: No they came back. Maybe the site needs a period of not having the flower arranging mentioned before Google forgets.

All this is over my head. Time for bed.

Did I mention bed, what's that going to do to the ads?
 Flower arranging feedback - Iffy
...All this is over my head. Time for bed...

All will be well provided you lie down on a bed of arranged flowers.

Even the "Hostess" commented how quiet i have been lately! and she misses wiping up the "slobber" off the arm of the settee!! - Bah!

Any lady gardens?

I think you missed out an apostrophe, Ted.

Yes this thread has really proved the point. It's really quite impressive how the ads are picked to the content stream IMHO. Other ad services outside of Google don't seem to be able to do this. Little wonder Google has done so well.

I generally work from an iPAD - all the ads from this site have been motoring related on that. One actually had the word ZERO in giant letters. Does Safari work differently to other browsers in the way it presents adverts ? (My MacBookPro runs Firefox)
 Flower arranging feedback - rtj70
If the code behind adchoices is Flash based, then it won't work on an iPad or iPhone.

And the ads I currently see have been Virgin Media (read about them upping broadband speeds yesterday), South Lakeland Parks (looked at the website yesterday), Dell and Mazda (used to have one of those etc).... so seems the ads are better targeted again.

Where ? Where?

All I am getting is Crocs. Is there a message for me ?
Flower arranging feedback - Runfer D'Hills
I've just returned from a walk through a market square in Italy. There was a pleasing variety of goods on offer including a stall selling great big melons.

:-)))

I give up ! What's the weather like there ?
Flower arranging feedback - Runfer D'Hills
Cold but bright sunshine.

Did you drive down in the end Humph?

Not this time. Got to come back twice in the next couple of months though so....

>> Theeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrr Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack.

I haven't seen any of the rogue ones at all, not once. Some of the web content I browse would raise BBD's eyebrows too, but all they're trying to sell me on here is we b design, car insu rance and actual flowers...

Annoyingly enough, I'm probably right in the target demographic for palm tree fruit :S
 Flower arranging feedback - Dave_
Finally, I've seen them, I've seen them!

They're not very nice, are they? :(
 Flower arranging feedback - rtj70
Just turned on the ads again and it looked positive... and then I see the advert I originally posted on here about HJ.

For new members this site looks down market from some ads. Maybe it should either:

- use something other than Google ad choices
- Charge members somehow (complicated)
- Shutdown - the site has promised a lot and is soon 2 years old

I suggest option 2 or a variant of. Unless maybe Stephen Khoo et al have real ideas. I suspect we are benefiting from Mr Khoo allowing us to use spare capacity on his servers and Internet connection.

Option 4 -

Put up with it, its not a problem.
 Flower arranging feedback - rtj70
I assume Stephen does not give much thought/time as this creates no money, Well some.

I have an idea of a fix.
 Flower arranging feedback - Pat
>>I suspect we are benefiting from Mr Khoo allowing us to use spare capacity on his servers and Internet connection<<

Absolutely, and how generous of him too.

Of course, the obvious solution to anyone who the ads offend, is not to use the website, but that's just too simple.

Pat

Good grief!! - If some folks are offended by the little ads that occasionally "pop-up" on here of fully dressed women, how do you dare walk down the high street? and God forbid that at some time in your life you may actually go on holiday, and go down to the beach!!! - all those Women swanning around in no-more than a Bikini - Nay Mavis don`t look...............
 Flower arranging feedback - rtj70
I think the point is not that we are offended but someone looking over your shoulder might wonder what you're looking at. I gave an example of being at the gym but at work would be similar.
 Flower arranging feedback - devonite
Well surely someone looking over your shoulder would see a screen-full of thread, and IF they noticed the ad up in the corner they would realise that that is exactly what it was, and that you weren`t actually looking at it, but reading the thread??
 Flower arranging feedback - Focusless
>> IF they noticed the ad up in the corner they would realise that that is exactly

And they'd think 'must be a quality porn site if it's got words as well' :)
 Flower arranging feedback - devonite
Ok then I give up !! ;-)

just stick a beer mat over it with a bit o chewy!!
 Flower arranging feedback - Focusless
>> And they'd think 'must be a quality porn site if it's got words as well'

If they saw that the website's name contained '4play'... :o

>> I think the point is not that we are offended but someone looking over your shoulder might wonder what you're looking at.

So, you're in a newsagents glancing through Exchange and Mart, Autotrader, or AN Other motoring magazine and the top shelf is full of girly mags. Does the person looking over your shoulder think the same thing then?

The ads are as much in the background as the mags in the newsagents.

In short, some people are making mountains out of molehills about some of the ads on here.
Flower arranging feedback - Runfer D'Hills
I don't give a toss.

:-)

Doesn't bother me what's in them - turned them off ages ago.

I've got a plethora of flowers on the page!
Can't beat ALDI, with a dozen very nice yellow roses for three quid, though!
 Flower arranging feedback - rtj70
Just had an advert for tags for cows, pigs and sheep. Bit surreal. Especially as watching a film with no dialogue called le quattro volte.
