As the title says, she wants a new 'phone. She's with Orange and the simple solution's to walk into the local shop. I can't be bothered to spend hours on the interweb thingmy comparing specifications.
Any recommendations for a basic 'phone? She makes calls. She does texting and now she wants a camera included. The camera needn't be any decent quality as she takes carp photo's with a real camera.

I bought an unlocked Nokia from Asda just over twelve months ago - I paid about £49 for it.
It is a slide 'phone and has a camera and radio. Pictures are OK but you need a Bluetooth connection to download them to your PC.
I got a free Asda sim card with it and their calls are cheap. Coverage is good as they use Vodaphone.

It didn't last her long, she gave it a cool wash cycle. ;>)
Any suggestions for buying another from e-bay perhaps. Her SIM card's OK, it works in her old 'phone, but it's the only thing from the laundered job that does.

Be a man.
Tell her she can't have one.

perhaps it's her way of saying she wants something better..... ;-)

I hope she didn't have any loose change in the same pocket. You can be 'ad for money laundering.

Look at GiffGaff (owned by O2) and its Goodybags:
www.giffgaff.com
The £10 Goodybag is particularly superb value for money and you can "port" your current mobile number. Details also given on how to unlock other network phones.
Probably the cheapest decent all round smartphone is still the HTC Wildfire S, which can be bought from Carphone Warehouse for £150 or less including an O2 package (can be used on GiffGaff).

How about this? Slight problem in that you can't make calls with it, and at 2.5ft square it's not particularly portable. But on the plus side it does take 50000 mega-pixel shots:

Wonder what size SD card it takes...
