I have a 13kg green Calor "Patio Gas" container. Does anybody know the cheapest place to get it refilled? B&Q charge £25.
I would like to take my business elsewhere because they have really messed me about (firstly telling me the wrong refill price when I hired a 5kg one, telling me that I would get my full deposit back when in fact the deposit is deducted from over time, and telling me that I could take it back to the store to exchange it for a bigger one when, in fact, I have to take it back to a Calor depot). Not impressed, so if I can take my business elsewhere I will.
It seems that they don't actually fill it for you at the store, that they just exchange it for a new one (and no, they wouldn't exchange the small one for a large one, even though they had set me wrong to start with). Do other places refill, or just give you new ones? (I had to sign a rental agreement @ B&Q).

No-one does - far too dangerous

This is standard practise

the rental agreement is with calor NOT B+Q - You rent the canister and pay to have refils (even tho you get an exchange) The standard price from calor is 24.99 for a 13kg patio gas refil

NO. Don't mess with any compressed gas. End of, or it could be!

Also there is no such thing as Patio gas. It is just gas that uses a fancy regulator. Mine is on Propane with a 'proper' reg'
Sausages are us.

Nah, when I was a lad, you could get a refill at my local newsagents. He would do it while having a fag, and you could get your fireworks at the same time.

well you wouldnt catch me within 500 yards of B and Q or Homebase if they let pensioners play with a tanke with several hundred litres of compressed gas in it.
The BBQ got its clean and service today. for its first use of the season, Three fat juicy BBqd steaks went down a treat.

I still use it, as does my girlfriend.
To me, a lot of the attraction of a Barbie is the taste, which is different on gas, more like have a cooker in the garden than a PROPER Barbie!

And yes, the smoke is really good for you too!

I agree Swiss Tony, and we do have a charcoal barbie too. The thing is, we try to eat outside most nights and I really just can't be bothered to do a charcoal barbie every night (plus I don't really fancy breathing in that smoke every night of the summer either), hence having the gas one too.
Definitely a better taste than doing it in the oven, IMHO, but not as good as charcoal.

when i was a lad the kitchen was in the scullery and the toilet was in the garden
now the toilet is in the scullery and the kitchen is in the garden
what happened

We got sensible and realised that we don't need those house big extensions.
The garden is just an extension of your living space, it's the best set of 'rooms' in the house for me.

Have you tried a camping shop that stock gas maybe the can help, i just exchange my bottle for a new full one.
Or smaller diy outlets stock gas.

Thanks Bigtee. I will look into that.
I decided to get a bigger tank from B&Q, which means that I will have to lose another £10 of my deposit when I take it back (deposit is £29.99, and you lose 30% if you take it back in the first year). Didn't really want to, but the lamb chops last night made it worthwhile.

Agreed, although still a bit nippy in the evenings at the moment.
I am looking into getting some kind of heater for outside. B&Q used to sell them but apparently don't anymore...maybe on environmental grounds.

Carbon footprint: BBQ smoke, ciggie smoke and patio heater emissions.
It'll be banned soon:)

...BBQ smoke...
It doesn't bother me that much, but barbecue smoke can be problem in built-up areas.
Soot on the washing, smell in the house, that sort of thing.

My Dad can't stand BBQ's, the smell for one thing, and 'why would you want to eat burnt food?'
set in his ways, my old man!

Barbecue. Meat inabun. No green stuff. Brill!

Agreed. the best BBQ taste is with a real fire. In fact the best tasting ones are over wood fires with a steel plate (as in the Aussie outback)
However
Its not convenient and you cant be spontaneous with a wood or charcoal BBQ. So for compromise a gas BBQ wins it
