There I've said it, sorry, he seems to be everywhere - please bring back real music BBC.
|
You are now on my wife's death list!
|
With that Christmas album (which Mrs F instructed me to get a few weeks ago) he's pretty much guaranteed to be a permanent fixture at this time of year for the foreseeable future. Better get used to it :)

Well at least from what I've seen he's usually singing live accompanied by a bunch of competent musicians. When you say 'real music' are you talking about 'pop stars' miming to backing tracks? :)

Fair point, his performances are obviously a matter of taste, but they are genuine.

I know what PU means.
Bubble is a very slick, very polished, highly produced and honed performer. He has studied and taken much of his skill from the greats, Like Sinatra, Martin, Sammy Davis etc. However he does not have the personality or charisma to match it, subsequently Bubbles performances are just smarmy and sicky yuk.

Apparently, Buble swears a lot during his live shows, but doesn't care about the complaints.

A perfect summary.
Makes me cringe - rather like someone who is trying to impersonate someone and failing badly.
|
He's obviously turned into a faux American in the worse possible way iffy - "Holiday Season" my backside.

He's obviously turned into a faux American
He's Canadian
|
He's partly forgiven, for some irrational reason I thought he was Scottish..

I don't think he is a 'bubble' - careful dutchie - the CPS are looking for easy racist incitement prosecutions!

One of the benefits of avoiding TV (other than news and a few selected progs) is that I also have never seen or heard this particular ephemeral figment! The TV stays orf unless application is made.

I dont see how this ican be. Unless you live in a cave or on Antarctica, and claim never to have heard of x annoying or otherwise celebrity or any of these dancing on ice, TOWIE or X factor type things frankly I think is untrue. Thay are splashed on every paper going and are featured on TV most of the day and if you have younger relatives, siblings or off spring they will taking about it as well. Personally however much I calim to hate this type of thing, I'm always drawn to it because;
a) It's on the TV already and dont see point of spending Friday + Saturday night in another room.
b) The more programmes of hers I watch, she might?? sit down with me and watch Wheeler Dealers, Mythbusters, Top Gear etc...
As for Mr Buble, he ok as an entertainer, doesnt float my boat as they say but neither does any modern music at the minute.
|
I think claiming my point is untrue is a little OTT. I'll concede I may have seen the name in the press, but I can assure you that I have never seen this person at all on the box or otherwise, nor heard of them mentioned. The box is only on when we want it to be, and this sort of stuff doesn't qualify. Likewise my vision has not been sullied by dancing on ice, X-factor or other similar pap.
|
First time I've seen "Bublé" and "modern" in a sentence - he spoilt last weekend's Saturday Night Live (a US comedy programme, for the non-viewers)

+1

Actually Dog I don't think he's particularly ephemeral. Has a huge worldwide fan base , mainly female, and I suspect he's going to be around as long as Cliff Richard. Not my particular cup of tea but my wife loves him so quite familiar with his work.
He has cleverly tapped into a fan base that will follow him to the end of the earth so I wouldn't worry about his pension prospects. You don't really need a TV to be aware of him, indeed until recently don't think he'd been on their much. Radio 2 is his natural habitat and it was Michael Parkinson on his Sunday morning show (sadly missed) that did so much to promote him and make him a star in the UK.
|
I honestly have never heard of him CG, wifey will know him though I dare say,
I hardly watch much TV these days either, although I did catch Rising Damp yesterday which made me LOL,
The subject was not a million miles from one of our current threads :)

I can say with hand on heart that I have never heard of this Mike Bubbly. And I expect never to hear of him again.
|
He is blowing Bubbles in the bath AC..:)

You're not reading the right tabloid, AC. I've certainly heard of him, but have not yet seen him perform.

Good taste Dutchie.
I don't like Bubbly's stuff, but have to say I don't come across him often. As someone said earlier, far too smooth and polished for me. I don't listen to jazz these days, but I used to play records of people like Dave Brubeck, Oscar Peterson, Erroll Garner. This jagged Miles Davis piece is an antidote to Bubbly. Always reminds me of Clint Eastwood Dirty Harry films.
