Anyone else think the same as me and that this idea for two new towers in Seoul is wrong:

I caught a glimpse this morning and thought it was in fact the WTC collapse. Impressively bad taste of the architects.

I agree - very bad taste. Even building two towers like that could be deemed bad taste. The 'cloud' bit around it.... oh that is wrong. But they do eat dogs over there and I think that's wrong too.

Someone approaches a Dutch architectural company for a new, revolutionary, inspirational blah blah blah design. They come up with this after a lunch break in the city having a shmoke knocking up some designs on "fag packet for Windows" and no one thinks to say hang on, think we've overstepped the mark here.

Nah ! Let's bang it back to them and see what they say.

If it was not an obvious reference to the attacks, then fine. But there is so much to make everyone think of the attacks.

The only time there was any architectural or artistic merit to the twin towers was when they were collapsing.


From the same perspective, those two proposed buildings look stupid.

Looks like one building to me. The twin towers were one building too.

I don't dislike it and it doesn't offend me in the least. It's original. But the so-called pixilated cloud is a bit on the heavy side. Perhaps something can be done to make it look a bit more diaphanous and explosion-like. Give it a bit of movement.

I wouldn't be surprised if some New Yorkers maddened by personal 9/11 traumas took or claimed to take exception to it. But it's completely beyond me why anyone here should mind in the least.

What are we, arbiters of world taste? We're not up to it.

I think its a deliberate attempt by Korea to try and "wind-up" the Americans.
We all know the "cloud-effect" is supposed to represent the jet impacts, and as such, it is disrespectfull and in very bad taste - it says alot about the people of Korea.
If they go ahead and build it, the Americans should retaliate by initialising a total trade embargo against Korea. I think Korea would soon realise thier folly then, and I dont think it would cause the U.S too much hardship.

As said, if the Americans were not in South Korea.... there wouldn't be a South Korea would there?

I cannot think what these 'twin towers' represent other than a reference to the Sept 11th attacks. There's no new design here.

Maybe I am too sensitive.

So ungrateful too, given the US's long and distinguished record of displaying immense respect, courtesy and delicate taste in its dealings with nations in Asia.

IF I wanted to buy a good value car with a good warranty and a competent dealer network in UK the design of the buildings in the country where it was built wouldn't be a factor in my decision.
