University lecturer charged with contempt for researching a case she was trying as a juror:

I wonder what she thought the following warning meant, which all judges give to juries before a trial:
"Members of the jury, do not be tempted to research this case either on the internet or elsewhere.
"You must try the defendant solely on the evidence you hear in court."

Yet more proof that education and intelligence do not go hand in hand.

More like arrogance than any intellectual, "I'm a Professor and immeasurably cleverer than you, and normal rules only apply to dumb people" sort of attitude. Read somewhere (USA I believe) about some University Professor looking at child porn on the train for goodness sake.
