Ipod / MP3 - ever listened to all your tracks? - BobbyG
The other thread made me think of this - I have my classic ipod on shuffle all the time but every so often, I want to start at track 1 and see if I can go all the way through in order (obviously not at the one go)

Does anybody play their ipods / mp3s from start to finish?

I have 37,987 tracks!

The mix of genres on mine - I have hundreds of radio programmes I've collected using Radio Downloader, and a lot of classical stuff that also comes in long chunks - isn't really conducive to the pot-luck treatment. But a couple of times on a long trip we've inadvertently begun at the beginning (Above the Clouds from ELO's A New World Record) and seen where that took us. It throws up some nice juxtapositions: my favourite was Dancing Queen neatly preceded by Dancing on Your Grave.

Don't think we've ever got to the end - and it's only an 80GB 'pod, and only half full.

Most of us have more music tracks than we could ever possibly listen to.

I've often thought the same about the internet porn punters I see at court.

Each has thousands of mucky pics on his computer - more than he could ever look at.

I reckon there's a basic human need to collect lots of stuff.

Don't usually have any music at all on mine. Just use it to listen to downloaded podcasts. Suppose I download about 20 podcasts per week keeping the last two episodes on the ipod. Listen to them mainly whilst working in the garden or at the allotment. Everything from Guardian's Science Today to BBCs Comedy of the Week

's Fhada Leam an Oidhche Gheamhraidh from 'The Blood is Strong' by Capercaillie. Album of the theme and incidental music from Grampian TV's series tracing the Gael's diaspora.

Like others there's quite a bit of Classical so random all will intersperce songs with movements from symphonies.

'I Can See For Miles...' by The Who

I have actually listed to all tracks in alphabetical order once - came to the conclusion I needed to have more playlists so that Xmas tunes could be avoided in June etc.

My random track**... Led Zeppelin Communication Breakdown from the BBC Sessions Album.

It's my son's track, honest ;-)

I suspect there's SWMBO's Daniel o' Donnell tracks lurking somewhere on the HDD as well.
