* used to just have the work one and pay pittance for personal calls. Now turn it off when not working and do not take it on holidays! Have to now pay for a contract of course. Also planning for when I don't work for them and live in Greece.... :-)

2 pooh bags!

Some kitchen roll sheets folded up ... goes back to when I had a serious nose bleed all of 6 years ago :-D

A piece of flint that I use as a knife, I picked it up from the gravel drive, but looking at it, it looks like it may have been 'worked' (I know about these things, see).

That's about it ... oh, I've just found an elastic band in my little jean pocket, the one where I used to put my 'deals', and there's also a piece of paper with my cc pin #, which has gorn through the wash umpteen thymes, but I know it off by art anyway,

Interesting ya?

Makes me realise I am lucky. If I travel to the nearest office is 29 miles (shorter routes possible). But I don't go often. Longer trips I claim! That is probably not an expensive commute by many peoples standards! But ouch.

Maybe I don't earn enough and find that as expensive (I assume of course).

Difficult to explain without telling my life story. In brief, until recent dispersals to the Midlands my career was always going to be in London. Mrs B is a science teacher and they need those everywhere. We moved out here 20 years ago on basis that mortgage + fares were equal to those in Watford or Hemel but we were a lot nearer ailing parents up north living here.

Low interest rates might have skewed the sums of late but I've never regretted it. I live in the country, my kids had access to excellent schools and we're out of the South East.

The train takes an hour but I get a seat and can read/think/enjoy the view. I could spend as long standing on the tube.
 What's in your pockets...? - rtj70
I was only thinking financials Bromptonaut. And not prying. If I travel further I get all the money essentially . If I take the train to work in London for a project I obviously get all of it.

I get most/all business miles. And the company car I have has all expenses paid apart from personal miles.
What's in your pockets...? - Ted

I tend not to carry coins in my trousers, I find them uncomfortable.

Normally, like today, I only carry a couple of notes in me strides...2 tenners today.
The rest goes in my coat, or gilet in Summer.

Pen and small notebook.
Cheapo reading glasses
Phone
Bus pass, debit card and maybe one empty credit card.
Swipe card for access to fleet cars.
Canderel
Couple of tissues
Polaroids...but I'm usually wearing them.
Car and front door key.
Today, about £15 in pounds and fifties
Usually, a couple of till receipts.....fuel or bits for work.

My manbag copes with everything else if I need to be out for longer.

I'm very careful about what's in my pockets these days. Lesson learned about 20 years ago. I used to fly to Italy pretty regularly at that time often on a Sunday evening. This one Sunday I'd been clay pigeon shooting and lost track of time. Suddenly realised I needed to be at Heathrow urgently, didn't have time to change out of my shooting gear, grabbed my overnight bag and zoomed off to the airport.

They don't like you going through security with shotgun cartridges in your pocket...In fact they don't like it at all.

I take it the limit on your cards is 15 bob?
What's in your pockets...? - Pat
15 bob or 15 grand, it's certainly not something I feel the need to post on a public forum.

The availability of a credit limit is only any use if you have the ability to pay it off.....most of us would be hard pressed to pay off ALL the available credit we have, myself included.

So, in effect, it's just a bit of willy waving:).......again *sigh*

We are men, we like to willy wave, its what we do!

Could I pay the monthly bills if I maxed out my cards? of course

Not. It would break me.

Edit, I was hoping it would bring out the pious "I dont have cards, refuse to sanction debt" brigade. Believe me, if you are stuck abroad with an emergency to handle a good credit card limit is a godsend.

Z, I know about men and willy waving.

I used to be able to parallel park my Mondeo estate on the mirrors no bother with the barest minimum of space in front or behind. I find I can do the same with the Merc estate. With the Qashqai though I was like Reginald Molehusband despite it being a much smaller car with very good visibility.

( Do hope Rob doesn't mind the mega-drift here but it would seem he's out putting summer/winter/autumn tyres on or something so he won't notice )

Wonder why? Overhangs maybe? Never really bonded with that car. Wife loves her's though.

( If he is lurking I suppose we could go on to what's in our door pockets...)

What's in your pockets...? - Pat
I still can't park a car even after 2 years of not driving a lorry, and it frustrates me.

I jumped into an artic the other day and backed it in between two trailers in limited space inch perfect after two years of NOT driving one.

It's a radar thing, I think, as soon as I sit in the lorry seat I know instictively where the back corners, front corners and overhang is/are.

The mirrors on cars are absolute crap and there is no vision where you need it, certainly I need a kerbside mirror.

I drove all round a hospital car park this morning to find a space I could drive through so I could pull out again without reversing!

Pay

And why do they make back windows so small now and C pillars so darn wide?
A few years ago I took a Bentley Continental R on a test drive (not the titchy VW one) and when we got back to the guy's house I backed it round a dog-leg into his drive with no problem at all, although it was completely unfamiliar and nearly 18ft long. Because it had excellent visibility in every direction is why.

I only posted because Z did. Didn't want him thinking up north we cannot get credit if we wanted it. :-)

The other point I thought would get raised is how crazy credit limits are. No wonder people (and countries) get into so much debt.

If I spent to the limit I couldn't pay it back anytime soon. I'd get shot except it might be handy if our plan to buy somewhere (which seriously is/was Greece!) comes off.

Every now and then I get either a letter or phone call telling me I have a zero % balance transfer option. You tell them you have no debt so they tell you they can put the money in your bank account! There might be many people who do just that! And down the line they end up in trouble.
